Creating a Series Listing
What's a piece? What's a series? When you have multiple audio clips, should you make a single piece listing with all of the audio attached, or create a series?
When to Create a Series
Both options allow you to connect various audio segments to show a connection between them. The main difference is how this material is offered to stations. If you were to list multiple audio clips under one piece, a station would have to license the entire set. The series option allows multiple pieces to be connected, but not inseparable: they show up under one series headline, but can be licensed individually.
If you feel it is necessary for all of your clips to remain together, we recommend listing them as segments under one piece listing. Otherwise, to offer stations more flexability, use the series option.
How to Create a Series
To create a series listing:
- Log in and go to the "My PRX" tab
- Click on "My Pieces" (or "Group Pieces," if you're part of a group.)
- Click the orange "add a series" button.
When you create a series, you write a general series listing which should encompass the information pertaining to all of the pieces in that series. What ties these pieces together? Which topics are addressed, and what is the standard format? After writing your series description, you can write a piece listing for each individual piece in that series, and choose the appropriate series listing from the drop-down menu in each individual piece listing's "piece information."
The process is almost identical to adding a piece, but instead of attaching audio files, you attach piece listings.
