Public Interactive and PRX

Public Interactive
designs and provides content for public radio station websites. You may have noticed the Public Interactive account
on PRX. They look to license timely material on the site, which they will then offer as downloadable or on-demand streaming content for their clients.
The great thing about getting picked up by Public Interactive is the publicity. Public Interactive will be advocating and providing your piece (as a stream only) to public radio stations. Trusted public radio station websites will in turn be advocating and providing your material for listeners to stream at their convenience. One license, and you can be (almost) everywhere.
Offering Your Piece to Public Interactive
Public Interactive cannot license your piece if you don't have the right license terms for them. Since they license content to offer as online, on-demand streams, your piece's license needs to explicitly either allow this or make an exception for Public Interactive. You can do this two ways:
1.) Allow your piece to be streamed/downloaded on station websites. Just make sure to select the following in your license:

2.) If you'd rather not allow the first option for any licensor, you can write an exception for Public Interactive in the text box for your license, along the lines of "Licensing and use of my piece by Public Interactive IS allowed."
Public Interactive FAQ
How many stations use Public Interactive for their websites?
Around 140.
How much will I get paid?
If you have a Pro PRX account, you will be paid for one license, by Public Interactive. You will be paid the price you set for your piece on PRX (unless you made it 0 points, or free.) Of course, you will not be paid if you have a free Starter PRX account.
Will listeners be able to download my piece off any website?
You can elect to offer it to Public Interactive and its stations as a stream or a downloadable MP3.
Will stations be able to broadcast my piece on the air?
Not without contacting you first and arranging the terms under which this could occur.
Am I entering into some kind of exclusive contract?
No. You can offer your material to Public Interactive, and still be licensed by stations on PRX, or anywhere else for that matter.
What is Public Interactive looking for?
Shorter, timely pieces. Under half an hour is generally good, and centered around an upcoming holiday, current event, or commemorative week/month/anniversary.
